Grandparents and parents dig deeper than ever to send kids to university
- The 量 grandparents are giving is 増加するing faster than インフレーション
- Parents favour cash 貯金 にもかかわらず the higher returns seen from 投資するing
Grandparents are upping the 量 they 与える/捧げる to their grandchildren's university costs, data shows, while university remains the main 財政上の 優先 of parents when supporting their children.

At the same time, 71 per cent of parents 与える/捧げる to their children's university costs, giving an 普通の/平均(する) of £8,723 per year.
Outstripping インフレーション: The 量 grandparents are 与える/捧げるing to university 料金s has grown かなり over the past 10年間
More than three 4半期/4分の1s of parents in the 最高の,を越す three social and 経済的な groups, known as ABC1, 与える/捧げる to their children's education, giving as much as £9,626 a year on 普通の/平均(する), w hile 59 per cent of lower earners in the C2DE 部類 与える/捧げる to university costs, giving £5,639 on 普通の/平均(する).

Britton 追加するd: 'It's worrying more parents aren't using the 力/強力にする of the 株式市場 to help 上げる their 貯金 over the long 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語.
'Not everyone can afford to put money aside, but those who can usually use cash 貯金 accounts rather than the 株式市場.?
'That's にもかかわらず the fact that most parents recognise an 投資 in the 株式市場 will do better than cash over a typical ten-year period.'
The data 示唆するs 64 per cent of parents use cash as their 最初の/主要な way of saving money for their children, with just 16 per cent using 投資 信用s, 15 per cent using 株 and 10 per cents using 基金s.

にもかかわらず favouring cash, a 大多数 of parents think an 投資 would 配達する better returns over a ten-year period.
While these parents would be 権利, with the 普通の/平均(する) 投資 信用 having returned £2,708 from a £1,000 投資 over the past ten years, 37 per cent worry that there is too much 危険 伴う/関わるd, while 28 per cent said they don't have enough money to do so.
More than a fifth each said they don't understand 投資するing, or 港/避難所't even considered doing so instead of using a 貯金 account.
Britton said: 'While there are many ways to 投資する in the 株式市場, 投資 信用s 供給する diversified, professionally managed (危険などに)さらす to a 範囲 of 投資s and can be a good starting point for 投資家s.
'An 投資 of £50 a month in the 普通の/平均(する) 投資 信用 over the past 18 years would have left 投資家s with £30,668 ? comfortably covering what the typical parent 与える/捧げるs over three years of university.'
